WORKSHOPS at my new home studio are now by request. I do offer a series, designed to guide the student towards a more traditional study of bookbinding and box making, or to direct them towards alternative structures for artist book work. From years of production binding, my methods are straight forward with a focus on good structure and use of materials.

Strongly encouraged is a one-day workshop on the basics of case binding called BOOKBINDING WARMUP, introducing the fundamentals of hand bookbinding, from sewing to construction; great for the beginner or as a review for the more experienced. Alternatively, THE SKETCHBOOK BINDING also teaches the basics of case binding, but in a larger format with heavier paper. And, THE SEWN BOARDS BINDING is another one day class introducing a binding structure that departs from case binding, but covers bookbinding basics.

Due to limited space, classes by request are limited to three students, two preferably at the rates stated. A private class will be quoted at higher course cost. Advanced classes require prior experience. All workshops are accompanies by handouts to follow in class, or for future reference.

Since my retirement from production in 2024, my workshops are scheduled as time permits, or by request. Class descriptions appear below. Contact me if you are interested in scheduling a class.
