WORKSHOPS at my Hands On Bookbinding studio progress in a series, designed to either guide the student towards a more traditional study of bookbinding and box making, or to offer alternative structures for artist book work. From years of production binding, my methods are straight forward with a focus on good structure and use of materials.

Students now have a choice of three different, one-day workshops to select as a prerequisite for other classes in the series, or they may choose to take them all. BOOKBINDING WARMUP introduces the basics of traditional case binding to the beginner, or it can be a review for the more experienced student who may value learning my technique. THE SKETCHBOOK BINDING also teaches the basics of case binding, but in a larger format with heavier paper. THE SEWN BOARDS BINDING is an alternative binding structure that departs from the tradition case binding, while introducing the basics. These classes may be repeated during the season to allow the student to plan their course of study.

All classes will have handouts to follow in class, or for future reference.

My 2023-24 Workshop season has ended . Check back and click on images for detail & dates of future classes. Contact me if you have special requests for classes.

CLASS REGISTRATION /// Class size depends on the course, from 3 to 6 students. Priscilla’s past students may bypass prerequisite classes upon approval. A deposit of $75 is required to hold a place in a class, $100 for leather classes. Balance due by workshop date. Deposit may be made by check, but also through Paypal and Venmo. A two-week notice of cancellation is necessary to receive full refund of deposit or any prepaid payment.

Because the workshop space is small, any registered student experiencing any possible symptoms of Cold, Flu or Covid is asked to cancel, out of respect of the other participants.

Contact Me about registering

After an email regarding class space availability, you will be given instructions about options for deposit payment and, for out to town students, suggestions for accomodations. Contact me to place your name on a mailing list for future classes.
